Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is a common overuse injury that causes pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the tendon at the back of the ankle. It can affect both active individuals and those with underlying biomechanical issues. At Christchurch Foot Clinic, we provide expert assessment and tailored treatment to relieve pain and restore normal function.

Our biomechanical assessment looks at how you walk and move, identifying factors such as foot posture, gait abnormalities, and muscle imbalances that may be placing excessive strain on the Achilles tendon. Understanding these contributing factors allows us to address the root cause, not just the symptoms.

Treatment may include personalised exercise programmes to improve strength and flexibility, advice on activity modification, and footwear guidance to reduce strain on the tendon. Where appropriate, we may recommend orthotics to support your foot mechanics and promote more efficient movement.

We focus on a gradual, structured recovery plan to help you return to your normal activities safely, while minimising the risk of recurrence.

Move better. At Christchurch Foot Clinic, our goal is to relieve your pain, improve your movement, and support long-term lower limb health through expert biomechanical care.

Despite previous treatments elsewhere, GP advice and a course of antibiotics there was no improvement until I visited Christchurch Foot Clinic. A huge thank you to Elodie, I can now walk comfortably again!
